No fewer than seventeen commercial Banks has promised to support Jigawa state government on its Agricultural policies across the state.
The Chairman of the Jigawa state Chapter of Bank’s Managers Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba dropped the hint while news men shortly after the Bankers night held at General Yakubu Gawon NYSC Orientation Camp Fanisau Dutse.
He explained that as part of their Corporates Social Responsibilities to the state, the 17 banks operating in the Jigawa choose to support the present administration’s change agenda through its Agricultural policies.
The Chairman who is also the Manager Sterlin Bank Plc in Dutse said, apart of supporting farmers through Anchor Borrowers programme, the banks also concluded arrangement to provide other packages to farmers to increase their productivity.
According to him, Jigawa state is blessed arable land of over 500,000 hectres but only 200,000 land is being cultivate due to inadequate support to farmers across the state.
He assured that, if Jigawa farmers are supported with some packages, they can feed not only Jigawa state but also the northern Nigeria at large.
Alhaji Ibrahim maintained that, the 17 banks operating in the state are also supporting educational sector for ensuring qualitative education to the children across the state.
He then assured to do all their best to corporate with present administration in making Jigawa a greater giant state in the country.
