The leadership of the National Population Commission (NPC), Cartography department in partnership with the stakeholders, has organized a one day national compendium of localities in order finalise as well present to the rural dwellers the final list of localities for the 2023 census.

This was disclosed in an address presented by the federal commissioner representing the FCT at the National Population Commission, Hon. Joseph Shazin Kwali during the workshop in Gwagwalada.

He said: “The main objective of this National State level workshop is to compile all the localities demarcated during the EAD on Local Government Area basis showing the coverage and location on interactive maps”.

According to Shazin Kwali, the compendium of localities for a census is a tool for census data dissemination as well as for National planning and development.

He noted that the leadership of NPC had gathered enough data sets that could be useful for National development in the country.

The Federal Commissioner, however, urged the participants from the sister agencies such as NIPOST and NOA among others to work with commission to achieve a good result during the census.

In the same vein, on the 16th of November, 2022 being Wednesday, the leadership of NPC in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) had organized a one day Capacity Building workshop on the 2023 Population and Housing Census for NPC FCT staff as well as the management staff on the National Orientation agency with the theme “Getting the People Involved”.

In his keynote address at the occasion, the federal commissioner representing the FCT at the National Population Commission, Hon. Joseph Shazin Kwali said: “The aim of the workshop is to ensure broad based national support and cooperation for the implementation of the activities of the National Population Commission, especially the coming census 2023.

Meanwhile, papers were are presented at the occasion which included “Processes and methodology of the 2023 Population and Housing Census”, “Digital Mapping and Enumeration Area Demarcation EAD for 2023 Population and Housing Census”, “Technological Innovations in the 2023 Population and Housing Census” and “Sensitization and Mobilization in 2023 Population and Housing Census”.
