Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has signed the 2025 appropriation bill of over N1.558trillion in to law.
He performed the statutory duty a few hours after the State Assembly passed the budget tagged; “The Budget of Hope for Sustainability and Food Security” exactly a week after it was presented by the state governor.
In his remarks, the governor applauded the efforts of the lawmakers for the expeditious scrutiny and passage of the bill.
Bago reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the existing synergy with the legislative arm of government to ensure development of the state.
He called on the legislators to invoke the instrument of oversight, to ensure the Executive arm comply with the budget
Earlier, the Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji stressed that the State Assembly commenced budget screening about 3 months ago.
He said the quick passage was achieved due to the outstanding performance of the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, adding that the 10th Assembly only ensured that the usual rituals are done and also ensured the judicious allocation of resources in the budget.
