NYSC member contributes N200, 000 for girl-child education in Zamfara

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of the 2016/2017 Batch B Miss Sarah Obaro Egbo in Zamfara state, has contributed over 200,000 naira aimed at promoting Girl-Child education in effort to ensure quality education and gender equality as featured 4th and 5th of the 17 goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) under her executed projects.
In her speech yesterday during commissioning ceremony of Queen Amina Girl Child Education ICT Center in Government Girls Secondary School Samaru Gusau shortlisted numerous contributions comprising teaching and learning materials, pens, computer learning calendar, 5 desktop computers, renovation of ICT and dedication to teaching graduating students the knowledge in computer operations.
According to Sarah, being ICT has eventually become the sine qua non of today’s world major part of development, as it yields major improvements in workplaces, networking, communication and economies as well, hence become necessary to embark upon making provisions for female students to acquire Information Technology so as to compete with their male colleagues.
“Gender equality on the other hand, is no doubt a growing concern in today’s world as females constitute more than males in most of the societies, therefore when they are properly educated and included in the country’s workforce, they would boost economy and even lead to sustainable development”, Sarah has challenged.
Also speaking, the sponsor of the project also a former Zamfara state chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association NMA, Dr.Sunday Onazy been represented by the state NMA chairman, Dr. Tijjani, urged other members of the NYSC serving in the state to emulate the kind of gesture offered by their colleague.
He commended Miss Egbo upon her deep sacrifice towards the development of education especially among female students, encouraging her to maintain the tempo till the completion of her primary assignment in the state, assuring that NMA will further its support and cooperation to the headquarters of Zamfara NYSC in order to move the state forward.
