The senator representing Kaduna Central in the Upper Chamber, Shehu Sani has said he did not in any way frustrate the $350 million loan requested by Kaduna State Government from the World Bank; saying his committee is only following due process to ensure the credibility of the loan.
He stated this while interacting with the media in Kaduna yesterday. Senator Sani said 20 states submitted request for such international loans and twelve has been cleared and nine states including Kaduna are still undergoing scrutinizing stage. He added that the outcome of the screening process will determine which of the state gets the loan.
He further explained that when the request was presented to the Senate, the senators after reading of the letter referred it to the Committee on Foreign and Local Debts which he is the chairman.
Senator Sani, however, said, Kaduna loan request like the rest of the eight states is pending before the committee and whenever it’s through, will be returned to the floor of the Senate where it will be voted for or against.
