N8m fraud: Bauchi govt to appeal court judgement in favour of civil servant

Bauchi state government is to file a notice of appeal judgement against Kabiru Ahmed, a civil servant who was alleged to be involved in embezzlement of Eight Million Naira (N8m) realized from plate numbers sale.
The accused, Ahmed Kabiru who work with Bauchi State Inland Revenue Board (BIRB) in charge of vehicle plates number sales was dragged before High Court number 8 for allegedly misappropriation of N8 million money realized from the sales of vehicles plates number.
The presiding judge, Muazu Abubakar in his ruling on Tuesday 25 October 2017 said the accused Kabiru has no case to answer as submitted.
Justice Abubakar ruled against the accusation, and the accused was discharge and acquitted.
The prosecuting counsel to the state Barrister Haruna Ibrahim said Kabiru was a staff of (BIRB) in trusted with motor plates number money worth millions of Naira.
He said “the Board set up a committee to investigate how monies realize from sales of vehicles plates numbers was remitted in the banks and He Kabiru was found wanting, who did not remitted over 8 Million naira to the Bank from the sales”
So a case was filed against him under two count charges for allegedly embezzlement of public funds to the tune of 8 million Naira.
Barrister Haruna said “we are not satisfied with the judgment, we will file a notice of appeal that will transmit to the court of Appeal Jos, with all the witnesses we see whether he has a case or not”
In his response the counsel to the accused Barrister Ben Ogbuche said they have no reason to go for appeal because they have lost.
“Well they have reason to go for appeal but it won’t make any difference, this is third time the case was discharged, first it was struck out at the Magistrate court and dismissed at the high court and now discharge and acquitted at the High court 8 in Bauchi “ Ben said The counsel to Kabiru, said “ we don’t have any fear to entertain, we won our case, let them carry on with the appeal and see.”
