Adamawa State Assembly has summoned three contracting firms including one owned by younger brother of Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla, Muraj Company Nigeria Limited to appear before it unfailing over failure to execute contracts worth N2 Billion in the state.
The Assembly issued the summon order, Wednesday, during the sitting of committee on community Development Rural Infrastructure, lamenting that the three contractors handling rural roads construction are not doing so in accordance to the contract specifications.
“They must appear before us or we declare them wanted by issuing warrant of arrest for their arrest”, the committee threatened.
According to the committee the firms are; Muraj Company Nigeria Limited,Hydro Sources and Resource Nigeria limited and Buzeal Nigeria Limited respectively.
A member of the Committee Hon.Hassan Barguma and member representing Hong constituency said the House cannot allow the contractors using RAMP as window for stealing public funds in the state.
Burguma who was visibly disturbed said the absence of the contractors at the committee’s sitting is as good as they are guilty.
He described as unfortunate the deliberate efforts by the contractors to embezzle funds approved for roads in the state causing untold hardship on transportation on the people of the state.
“It is wrong for the contractors to siphon funds appropriated for roads construction in the state.The house is going to issue arrest warrant when they fail to appear before the house within the stipulated time.The house would not allow the contractors to go free after being involved in some contractual malpractices during execution of the projects”.Burguma fumed.
