The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has organized a one day consumer outreach for mobile providers and customers where issues bordering on service delivery and value for money were deliberated upon.
NCC reassured participants of consumers efficient services that would make them get good quality service value for their money, fair redress and protection of unwholesome practices.
Director consumer Affairs Bureau of the Commission,Abdullahi Maikano stated this at the 89th edition of Consumer outreach program held in Yola Thursday,with the theme Information and Education as a catalyst for consumer protection.
Maikano stated that the NCC was also determined to ensure protection of telecommunication consumers from marketers exploitation and empowering Them to make rational and informed decision when making choice of services.
“Consumer education is identified by the commission as one of the cost effective mechanism that provides and guarantee consumer protection.
“Besides serving as proactive way of protecting comsumers from making wrong choices,it also serves as a preventive measures that protect consumer from being exploited and against fraud.
“To ensure that telecom consumers are well protected, informed and educated,the commission has developed series of initiative aimed at empowering Consumers with appropriate information that would ensure that their right are not only protected but get value for money”.
Abdullahi Maikano added that,the forum is put together to educate telecom consumers and other stakeholders on contemporary ways of generating interest in the industry.
