Ease of doing business in mining sector as web portal comes alive

Businesses in the mining and steel sector will henceforth be done electronically with the unveiling yesterday of the Integrated Automation and Interactive Portal (IAIP)by the federal ministry of mines and solid minerals development.
With development, processes such as mining licenses and mineral titles application, payment of royalties and fees and database for revenue drive, credible and timely information about the mining sector.
Services such as performing and responding queries, business intelligence/analytics, reports and statistical data generation,
GIS mapping representation of resources within the country, and side stream along the mineral corridor.
Speaking at the unveiling of the portal in Abuja, the minister of the Ministry of Mines and Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, described the development as a huge step towards improving Ease of Doing Business in the mining sector.
He noted that this was coming shortly after Nigeria’s strong showing in the recently World Bank report stating that the country had moved up 24 points in the Ease of Doing Business index for 2018.
With the favourable report from theThe portal, according him, will also serve as input and decision support system to the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission,
Nigerian Export Promotion Council, National Bureau of Statistics;
Nigerian Extractive Industry and Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Central Bank of Nigeria;
National Population Commission;
Nigerian Customs Services, and Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
Others are the Miners Association of Nigeria, Women in Mining, Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society,
Bank of Industry, Federal Inland Revenue Services and Nigeria Export-Import Bank and so on.
