Tropical diseases: Sighsavers Country Reps calls for sensitization in rural communities

Country Director Sighsavers International Sunday Isiaku has harped on the need to create more awareness against neglected tropical diseases in rural communities of Kaduna state.
The Country Representative stated this while fielding questions from news men shortly after the flag-off of measuring up to a billion treatments for neglected tropical diseases at Kudaru village in Lere Local government of Kaduna state.
The event was organised by Kaduna State Ministry of Health in Collaboration with Sightsavers.
He explained that creating more awareness on ways to avoid the diseases and need to for those infected to take their drugs will go a long to eradicate the diseases in the state.
Sunday was optimistic Kaduna State will be declared tropical diseases free state in the country in the near future.
He explained that though he wouldn’t want to give date but with the efforts of the state government in the fight against neglected tropical diseases like river blindness and elephantiasis it’s achievable.
