President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday wrote to Senate, requesting the Upper Chamber to consider appointment of Anthony Ojukwu as Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki read the President’s letter dated 27th October, 2017 at the plenary.
“In accordance with provisions of Section 8 of the National Human Rights Commission Act 2010, I have the pleasure to present Mr . Anthony Okechuwku Ojukwu for confirmation as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission by the Senate .
“While looking forward for your usual expeditious consideration, please accept, Mr. Senate President, the assurances of my highest esteem,” the letter stated.
it is expected that the Senate will take carry legislative action on the matter, whether to give its nod on the appointment or not, in the subsequent legislative days.
