Gunmen kill 12 in Zamfara

At least 12 people were allegedly killed by yet to be identified gunmen across the villages of Talata Mafara, Kaura Namoda and Maru local government areas of Zamfara state within two consecutive days.
According to an eyewitness identified as Malam Isa Ibrahim, the gunmen invaded Kuka Mairahu village under Maru local government area, killing three people and one person in Maru while another one in Kadauri.
This is even as five other innocent people were reported to have been killed in Guza village.
Malam Isa claimed that, the gunmen kidnapped three people in Kadauri including the wife of the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Maru ward, Alhaji Sani Gere and robbed him of N3.9 million in his possession.
“According to privilege information we had, the bandits have demanded N4million as ransom with a view to negotiate the release of the abducted wife out of which, over 1.2 million naira has been paid by the disturbed relatives and she now regained freedom,” Isa narrated.
Another report revealed that, the dangerous group of armed bandits again, invaded Kyasgyara, Walo, Dagwarwa, Dokau and Disko villages in Kaura Namoda local government area last Saturday night, killing two persons and kidnapped 8 people, carted away number of cows.
Accosted, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson confirmed the incident, specifying that, the Command has received signal pertaining the attack on Guza community alone, upon which one unit of Anti-Cattle rustling alongside anti-armed banditry squad were deployed and have restored law and order in the area.
The Commissioner further responded that, the Command is yet to receive any report on attack against other villages, lamenting poor attitude in communication with the Police by most of the affected communities, “Sometimes, even leaders have a neglecting attitude on giving useful information that could lead taking proactive measures against the occurrence of incidences”.
