Niger Commissioners: Dikko community canvasses support for nominee, as others protest theirs

The people of Dikko community in Gurara local government of Niger State had rally support for its commissioner nominee, contrary to many other constituencies who protested against their nominees to the State Assembly in Minna.
The Community members were seen marching in their numbers to the assembly complex to declare their support and appreciation for nominating one of their sons to serve in Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s cabinet.
Earlier, they sent a letter to the governor dated 5th December, 2017 titled “Appreciation for the nomination of Barr. George Sabo Koce for office of Commissioner Niger State.”
The letter, sent by the Dikko Community Development Association reads in part:
“We hereby present our timely and endless appreciation to you Sir, the Governor of Niger State for the honour, privilege, favour, opportunity afforded to Diko community of Gurara LGA by nominating Barr. George Sabo Koce for appointment as Commissioner into your cabinet.”
Against the backdrop of a petition by some purported APC group and published in a National Newspaper not (Peoples Daily) against his nomination by the APC officials and members, in a letter submitted from such petition to the lawmaker representing the Council in the House of Assembly Hon. Binta Mammam.
Presenting the letter on behalf of the group a frontline politician in the area Abubakar Suleiman Jatau Diko who led the rally in an interview however disassociated themselves, said ‘the petition was shrouded in secrecy and
believed to be ill motivated for some section or sinister interest and therefore absurd’ he stated.
Jatau added that they were in the House of Assembly to only submitted their letter to their representative on their stand and not to held meeting with anyone period.
Responding during an interview, the House of Assembly member representing Gurara constituency, Hon. Binta Mammam confirmed to have received the said petition and assured to do the needful to ensure peace in the area.
The group however accused the lawmaker for not leaving to their expectations in the house hence are waiting for her in the primaries and election come 2019 as she will not come back just like Hon. Afiniki Dauda, they emphasized.
