2019: APC stakeholders in Tafa endorse Gov Bello

The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Tafa Local government area of Niger State have endorsed the candidature of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for 2019 governorship election.
The endorsement came barely three months after the APC from Niger North, in Kontagora, the political zone of the Governor also endorsed him for second term, amidst indications of strong opposition from the People Democratic Party PDP from the zone.
However, the Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship aspirant, Engr Hanafi Mua’zu Sudan, who came second in the 2015 gubernatorial primary election has begun his underground campaign – an indication of interest from the zone.
The political stakeholders, made up of 360 political appointees from 10 wards in Tafa local government of Niger East, stated after their meeting that the decision was based on the good stewardship of the Governor for the past two years.
The unanimous endorsement was taken after the Chairman of the council, Alhaji Ado Abubakar, moved the motion that the governor should be given a vote of confidence based on his achievements so far.
He stated that despite pockets of security challenges ranging from kidnapping, herdsmen/farmers clashes and armed robbery, as well ‘one chance’ crime in an area from his council, the Governor has lived up to the expectation of the people and tackled most of the challenges with the political will desired.
The chairman also described the endorsement as a vote of confidence on the development programmes and projects of the APC-led government from federal to local government in the last two years.
Consequently the meeting also lauded the effort of the local government council in creating cohesion among stakeholders in the area.
