Russia 2018: Eagles camp opens May 22 lines up Congo, Serbia friendlies

As the 2018 World Cup draws closer by the day, Nigeria’s World Cup training camp will open on May 22 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has announced.
The nation’s football management body made the announcement yesterday in Lagos through its First Vice-President, Seyi Akinwunmi who also said that the country’s special kits for the mundial in Russia will be presented to the public on February 7 in London.
In the build up to the Russia mundial, Super Eagles will host Congo in a friendly on May 28 in Abuja ahead of a glamour warm-up against England on June 2 officials have announced.
The Eagles will also battle fellow World Cup qualifiers Serbia in London on March 27 after they have played against another Russia 2018-bound team Poland four days earlier.
The team will train in Abuja before the Congo match.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced this during a sponsorship agreement with Coca-Cola in Lagos yesterday.
The Eagles are due to fly out to Austria on June 3 from London after coach Gernot Rohr would have named his final 23-man squad for the World Cup.
They will play a final friendly against Czech Republic on June 6 in Austria.
The Eagles will train for a friendly against Congo on May 28 in Abuja with officials expecting Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to be in attendance.
The team are then scheduled to fly out to England, to take on the Three Lions at Wembley on June 2, before they head off to Austria for a final friendly against Czech Republic.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr will unveil the list of the players that will represent the Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia shortly after the team’s friendly match against England on June 2.
The Nigeria Football Federation said in a statement that the German tactician would name his final 23- man squad after the Wembley tie.
“Franco-German tactician Rohr must name his 23 –man team for the World Cup finals 48 hours after the prestige friendly with England’s Three Lions at Wembley on June 2,” read in part an official statement by the NFF.
