The Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to Speaker of Federal House of Representatives; Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Hon. Usman Garba ABG, has said that politics has never been a do or die affair for him; saying when the time comes he will contest – and if he wins, good; but if it is the other way, he will still thank God.
ABG stated this while fielding questions from the press in Kaduna on yesterday
Speaking on his preparedness towards the 2019 general elections, Hon. Usman ABG said he has always been prepared, adding that politics is like a coin with two sides, either win or loss.
Asked what he will do differently should he win election in 2019, ABG said he wouldn’t do it differently because as a former Member of the Federal House of Representatives, all he needed is to do more.
“I will try as much as possible to reach out to more people, have more community meetings and interviews with my people,” he said.
He, however, debunked rumours making the rounds that there is no vacancy in any position in his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he is just hearing it for the first time.
“You know in politics we do a lot of things; but I call that a rumour. When you say no vacancy, does that mean there won’t be primary elections? Of what use is the exco then?” he queried.
Hon Usman ABG further said that when the time comes, there will be congress and then the exco will vote; and whoever emerges from councilors to the governor will represent the party. He said he believes there will be a free and fair election from the same platform that brought the incumbents on seat.
