A philanthropy supporting entrepreneurship, Tony Elumelu, has opened a window of opportunity of securing seed capital for entrepreneurs wishing to start-up businesses of their own, but lack the necessary start-up capital to access fund for their businesses in Yobe state in particular and the country at large.
One of the beneficiaries of the funding, Jonathan Alexander from Yobe state, revealed this recently while briefing journalist in Yobe as a way of creating awareness of the program to those who are desirous of being self-employment and self-reliant to access the fund.
He pointed out that those who applied for the programme would be selected based on the viability of their idea, including: market opportunity; financial understanding; scalability; and leadership and entrepreneurial skills demonstrated in the application.
The window of opportunity, he said, is open for about 1000 entrepreneurs from the northeast, who would, after their application are satisfied, be given a seed capital of 5000 dollars, which is not refundable, for them to start their business and later they would receive same amount, which is refundable, to boost their business.
