Gunmen attack community in Nasarawa, kill 7 persons, set houses ablaze

Unknown gunmen yesterday attacked a Tiv community in Kadarko town of Giza Development Area of Keana local government council of Nasarawa state and killed 7 people, set several settlements with the Kadarko environs ablaze.
This happened after an attack that occurred on Sunday where Fulani settlement where 73 cows were killed at Yamadaga of Kadarko.
Governor Al-makura of Nasarawa State yesterday visited the town immediately after when he got the information of the ugly incident that occurred.
Addressing thousands of Tiv community in Kadarko at the primary school, he assured them of adequate security to protect them and urged them not flee the area.
He said: “I have come here to share in your sorrow, grieve, pains, condole and commiserate with you people on what happened at 1:45am in Kadarko community. I could no longer sleep when I got the information that some militants killed seven people in Kadarko. I am organizing security operatives immediately to protect the affected communities. I will deploy a unit of mobile police as well as request that there will be military surveillance within Kadarko and its environs.
“I call on you to maintain law and order. I know some of you loss your brothers and loved ones to this ugly incident. I will provide the necessary security and provide relief materials to cushion your situation at the moment.”
The governor further assured that already the state government had step ensuring that no life was loss again in the area.
He however, warned all communities in the state to live peacefully with one another irrespective of tribes and religion differences; added that his administration would not tolerate act capable of causing disunity in the state.
