The Chairman, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Scholarship Board, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri, has explained that only qualified youths would be awarded scholarship to study in the higher institutions in the territory and beyond.
Giri, who disclosed this at his residence in Giri, also said the scholarship would be dolling out to both indigenes and residents of the FCT who merited it.
He said his leadership would deem it necessary to consider the less privileged ones in the provision of scholarship, so as to enable them to go to schools.
This, according to him, parents who cannot cater for the needs of their children would be carried along in the scholarship scheme.
He further said his administration would not hesitate to parley with the FCT Education Secretariat to do the needful for the people of Abuja at the scholarship board.
He expressed dismay that the youths of the FCT were backward in education, pointing out that he would use his position to put smiles on the faces of the students educationally.
He, however, advised the students that whenever the scholarship’s money was offered to them, they should make use of the money wisely to actualise their dreams.
While speaking on the exorbitant school fees charged by the school principals in the FCT, Giri said he would use his office to relate with the FCT administration to arrest the situation, and urged the parents to send their children to the public schools.
