Kano State government has awarded complete renovation of Tiga General Hospital in Bebeji local government area of the state at the cost of N132 million.
This is the first time in 50 years that the hospital is undergoing major infrastructural upgrade.
The reconstruction and expansion covers the hospital wards, its laboratory, pharmacy and staff quarters as well as general landscape of the entire premises.
Inspecting the project, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said “the project was a priority work because the hospital has almost gone comatose due to dilapidated infrastructure and equipment”.
“I stopped by one day and noticed that all the wards and even the staff waters were dilapidated. Therefore, we decided to incorporate it into our rural development plans, as part of our rural development strategy tagged Karkara Salamu Alaikum”, he stressed.
He urged residents of Tiga and surrounding communities to show understanding and to cooperate with the contractor to ensure expeditious completion of the work.
Dr. Ganduje mentioned other projects executed by the state government in Bebeji local government including Gwarmai – Bebeji road re-construction and the School of Midwifery, Bebeji, urging people of the local government to reciprocate by supporting his administration to achieve its mission and vision.
Conducting the governor round, chairman of the contracting firm, Alhaji Bawuro told the governor that this company was awarded the contract in November 2017, with a completion period of 16 weeks, assuring that it would be complete before the time frame in the contractual agreement.
