Plateau debt: Lalong to pay N28bn before 2025

The former Governor of Plateau, Jonah David Jang, collected over Twenty Eight Billion Naira( N28 billion) bond and the present administration of Governor Simon Bako Lalong is to pay Six Hundred and Eight Million Naira(N860 million) monthly based on irrevocable standing payment order before the end of 2025.
Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Sani A Yahaya stated this at Cabinet Office in Jos, during the 2018 budget breakdown.
According to him, the budget which is tagged “ Budget of Rescue and Consolidation” has a total size of One Hundred and Forty Six Billion, Nine Hundred and Twenty One Naira(146,406,074,921.00) only.
He said the budget is more than that of last year with the sum of N6,911,766,665.00.
According to the break down, the capital and recurrent expenditures would take N70,505,477,530.00(48.16%) and N75,900,597,391.00(51.84) respectively.
The breakdown based on sub-sector revealed that the ministry of works and transport got the highest allocation with the total amount of N18,833,700,000.00 Representing 26.71% followed by the education ministry with the sum of N11,930,062,607.00.
