Drama in court as complainant pours hot water on accused person

A drama ensued yesterday at the Senior Magistrate Court 1 in Damaturu, Yobe state capital, presided over by Chief Magistrate Asiya Abubakar as a complainant poured hot water on the body of the accused after their case was adjourned.
A case of four count charges of criminal trespass, intentional insult, deformation of character and causing hot, had been brought before the court t against the accused person, Viani Okafor by the complainant, Elizabeth David.
As the case file was read out for continuous hearing before the court, it happened that the defense counsel to the accused person was not in court, thus the case could not proceed, and the prosecution sought for adjournment, which was granted by the presiding judge, and new date given for the continuation of the case.
Unfortunately, as the complainant and the accused person left the court room and were outside, the complainant, Elizabeth David opened a flask with hot water and poured it on the body of the accused person, Viani Okafor.
Sshe was consequently arrested and the victim rushed to hospital where she is presently receiving medical attention.
Sources close to the court told our reporter that Elizabeth David was angry because the case has lingered in court on the reason of the accused person’s defense counsel not appearing in court for about two court sittings, and that, from all indication, she came prepared with her ill intension as there was no baby with her to suggest the water was meant for preparing food for the baby.
As at the time of filling this report, the attacker, Elizabeth has been charged before the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Damaturu for the offense of causing grievous hurt which contradicts section 248 of the penal code law.
