• Query N1b spent on civil servants verification

The three Senators from Kogi State yesterday asked Governor Yahaya Bello not to embark on plans to sell properties belonging to the state government.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, the lawmakers under the umbrella of SAVE KOGI PROJECT vow to resist move to trade away the common patrimony of the people of Kogi State under the guise of privatization policy they believe is ill-fated and designed to steal from the people.
The lawmakers led by Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) wonder why the state government wants to embark on plans to sell state property when it has not been able to build new infrastructure in the state.
Melaye questioned a recent verification of civil servants in the state, arguing that despite spending a whopping N1 billion, nothing has come out of it.
“Of what essence was the verification of Kogi workers that after spending a whopping N1 billion, nothing came out of the exercise?” he said.
Speaking, Senator Atai Aidoko said the initiative ‘Save Kogi Project’, has become a “child of necessity” to quickly rescue the state from abysmal leadership failure.
“Kogi has never gotten it this bad”, he said.
Joining forces in the group are former Senator Mohammed Ohiare and Senator Ahmed Ogbembe who, although was not at the meeting, sent a representation.
Ohiare agrees that Kogi State is in dare need of a rescue mission.
