A final year Computer Science student of the University of Benin, has allegedly committed suicide.
The 500-level student in the Department of Computer Engineering, identified simply as Adams, was allegedly found dead in his room at Ekosodin Community, in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased was said to have submitted an assignment in his department before he returned to his hostel last Thursday.
His lifeless body was later said to have been found by his relatives who forced the door open in the evening, following reports by some of his friends who suspected that something had gone wrong when they could not access his room.
The Public Relations Officer of the University, Michael Osasuyi, confirmed the incident, said the institution received the report with surprise.
But, he however, declined comment on what could have led to the death of the student.
An official of Students Union Government (SUG), in UNIBEN, dismissed speculation that the victim was a first Class student.
