Noncompliance with FCC in recruitment into MDAs criminal offence -FCC chief

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has said that noncompliance of recruitment into Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with the commission is a criminal offence that attracts huge sanction.
The Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Shittima Buar Baba revealed this yesterday to newsmen in an interview during national stakeholders’ seminar organized by the commission in Abuja with the theme; ‘inspecting and monitoring strategic processes in the recruitment and nationalized spread of staff in MDAs’.
He said that the mandate of the FCC is to enforce the principles which are aimed at ensuring fair and equitable distribution of posts and socio- economic amenities, infrastructural facilities amongst the federating unit.
He further said that what necessitated the sensitization seminar were the widespread unanswered national questions of inequalities, marginalization, lopsidedness in political appointments and fear of domination by one ethnic group over another, one state over another, one geopolitical zone over another and one region over another.
According to him, “The commission cannot succeed alone because FCC need stakeholders, we do not police stakeholders but we dearly need their co-operation in achieving the mandate of national unity ,integration and full sense of belonging for all.
“Our esteemed stakeholders and clients from states, you are here to be fully sanitized and know that our mandate is not reduced to federal MDAs but includes states and local governments.
“We therefore expect you to take the message back home by adequately informing governors of your respective states to imbibe the spirit of the federal character or states and local character in all aspect of appointments, recruitments and spread of socio- economic amenities and public infrastructure”.
