ARDS begins distribution of farm inputs

In furtherance of efforts towards bolstering agricultural production in 2018 farming season, the FCT Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) has commenced the distribution of farm inputs to farmers under the Fadama Additional Financing Programme in the Territory.
Flagging off the exercise at the Fadama office in Gwagwalada, ARDS Secretary, Nzekwe Stanley Ifeanyichukwu, disclosed that the intervention through distribution of the critical agro-inputs is a deliberate attempt by government increase food production, for attainment of food security and poverty alleviation.
Nzekwe commended the National Fadama Coordination Office, for its various initiatives in the Territory, reiterating commitment of the FCT Administration, under the leadership of Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, to continue to partner with them and other well-meaning organizations towards repositioning the agricultural sector to become the engine room for economic growth.
The ARDS Boss charged farmers to always seek advice from the Secretariat’s agricultural extension workers in the Area Councils to guide them in their various fields.
He equally urged them to put the inputs they have acquired to good use, so as to enable them produce quality yields that can compete favourable in the global market.
In his remarks, the Project Coordinator, FCT Fadama III Additional Financing Project Officer, Alhaji Salisu Danladi Abdullahi disclosed that the distribution of the inputs was to enable farmers access the agricultural inputs in time before the commencement of the farming season.
