Niger LG chairmen urged to be security conscious

The Niger State local government councils have been warned to continue to give the most required priority to the security of lives and property in their domain to enhance grassroots development and peaceful coexistence.
Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Haliru Zakari Jikantoro made the disclosure at the weekend in Minna adding that development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and security.
Jikantoro further said that the present administration will ensure security of the people and peaceful coexistence of every community, as the only way massive development can be achieved.
The Commissioner who said this in a statement he issued at the weekend, however advised the Councils to partner with the security agencies, traditional and religious leaders in their areas for peace and order to reign supreme for the betterment of all citizens.
He charged on the youths to shun hard drugs, thuggery and other social vices as well embrace acquisition of skills if they most contribute meaningful to the development of their areas and the state rather than looking for white colour jobs.
He also urged the local government councils in the state to made concerted efforts to improve their Internal Generated Revenue IGR in view of the dwindling fund from the monthly allocation of the Federal Government.
Jikantoro however applauded the tireless efforts of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to ensured that a visible desired development in all the councils urging the grassroot to appreciate the kind gesture by cooperating with the present administration in the state.
