Gov. Gaidam pledges financial support for military barrack project

Yobe state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam, has pledged the sum of N200 million for the execution of work in the proposed military barracks awarded by the federal government in Damaturu, the state capital.
The governor who stated this yesterday when he inspected the site of the project which is about 2.9 kilometer off Potiskum road in the state capital, pointed out that already, the state government has expended the sum of N200 million in payment of compensation for the land acquired for the project.
He said the state government would not stop at that, but would do more to contribute as much as it can, based on the resources available to it as a way of reciprocating the sacrifices the soldiers had made and continue to make, as some of dead have died in the fight against insurgency in the state, to save and protect the lives of the people in the state.
Places inspected includes; the military barracks hospital, which is at about 97% completion, and the main barrack site where work is ongoing-on the from the construction of the main get and the guard quarters.
He commended the federal government for considering Yobe state in the siting of one of the three approved barracks in the country.
The governor was conducted round the 4.5 kilometer length by 2.5 kilometer width site by the GOC, Division of the Nigerian army, Brigadier-General Ahanotu.
