Late ‘Yar’adua’s physician, Safana, others defect to APC In Katsina

A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Katsina State, Alhaji Murtala Ibrahim Safana, former personal physician to late President ‘Yar’adua, Dr. Salisu Banye and thousands of supporters have defect to the All Progressive Congress, APC in the state.
The defectors were received yesterday at a ceremony organized at the APC party secretariat in Safana local government , where they tore the membership cards of their former party and received cards of the APC.
Speaking at the ceremony, the leader of the defectors, Alhaji Murtala Safana disclosed that they decided to join the APC due to the wonderful performance of the party at both the state and the national level.
He noted that the Buhari led administration’s efforts in tackling corruption, insecurity and economic development attracted them to the party which he said they believe had put the party on the path of progress.
Safana said considering the rot met by the APC administration and its efforts to put the country back on track all lovers of democracy and the unity of the country must come together to support all the government’s initiatives.
Similarly, Safana commended the initiatives of Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari in addressing insecurity in the state, where he said Safana and other neighbouring local governments were the major beneficiaries.
He added “before the advent of Masari’s administration farming activities and rearing of cattle was facing major setback in the area.
People were daily killed in our area but with the amnesty initiatives things have changed”.
Safana also praised the government initiatives in reviving the education, health, agriculture, water resources and industrial sectors of the state.
He pledged that the defectors would work hard in ensuring the success of APC in the forthcoming 2019 general election in the country, adding that APC would easily win the election due to its performance.
In a remark, the member of the house of representatives, representing, Danmusa/ Safana/ Batsari federal constituency, Alhaji Ahmed Dayyabu Safana has assured the defectors that the party would not discriminate against them.
