Love, tolerance panacea for peaceful – Kaduna CJ

The Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice Tanimu Zilani has said no matter the number of law created or the number of police, soldiers and other enforcement agencies, the country could only achieve peaceful if love and tolerance become their basic principles.
He stated this in a speech delivered at a one-day workshop organized by 190 Peace Mediators Foundation held in Kaduna yesterday.
Justice Zilani who was represented by Hon. Justice Muhammadu Lawal Bello in his paper; “Maintenance of Rule of Law for Peaceful Coexistence”, said it is only when people agree to forget their religious, tribal and regional differences and then agree to live under one Nigeria without any discrimination that is when Nigeria will become a peaceful nation.
According to him, the problem is not in the laws, rather in the people obeying the laws. He explained that Nigeria is faced with different conflicts and social vises ranging from terrorism, kidnapping, rustling, corruption among others which all have place to stay at the result of total disobedience to the rule of law.
He added that the rule of law is a principle that law should govern a nation as opposed to being governed by decisions of individual government officials, saying peace is a stage of freedom from war or violence.
In his own remarks, the Managing Director of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), Dr. Shettima Ali expressed dismay about the nonchalant attitude of Nigerian youth towards their future, stressing that they damage their future by becoming tools of destruction in the hands of elites.
“The youth should blame themselves for whatever befalls them in future. The youth of yesteryears like General Yakubu Gowon became Head of State at the age of 31, while Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and late Sir Ahmadu Bello all became leaders when they are in the midst of their thirties.
“But today you find people who are forty years above still parading themselves as youth and have not taken hold of their destinies. In fact, I was disappointed when I learnt that the president of the Youth Federation of Nigeria was above sixty years old.
“The problem insecurity in the country today is disunity and the problem was created those aspiring to lead the country and the youth must come out and rise up to the challenge by taking their destiny in their own hands.
Speaking earlier, President of 190 Peace Mediators Foundation, Mr. John Akor said the meeting which was organized in collaboration with Kaduna State Marketing Development Management Company, advising that it is time for youth to stand up and say, enough is enough to incessant killings, kidnappings and other social vices in the country.
