From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua Katsina
The Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar has disclosed that the state judiciary will create a special desk for protecting the rights of the orphans.
Justice Abubakar made the disclosure weekend while speaking at a ceremony organized by a committee set up by Jama’atu Izalatul Bi’ah Wa’ikamatus Sunna to raise funds to assist orphans and restituted across the state.
He noted that the creation of the desk has become necessary considering the rate at which people consumed the property of orphans and restituted without fear of God.
According to him, it was part of Islamic tradition for Muslims to take good care of orphans and the needy in the society, adding that leaders must take the lead in supporting them.
He similarly disclosed that the law had empowered the commissioner of commerce to direct hotels to solicit for donations from their clients on behalf of the orphans and the needy.
Justice Abubakar therefore called on wealthy individuals in the society to assist the committee with cash donations, food items or clothing materials, stressing that everyone is free to contribute to the committee.
Earlier the chairman of the committee, former deputy governor of the state, Ambassador Abdullahi Garba Aminchi has disclosed that last year the committee assisted the orphans and the needy with cash and other materials worth N25 million.
He also thanked the emirs of Katsina and Daura for their support and contributions to the committee, advising all stakeholders to assist the committee in this noble assignment.
