NSCDC-FCT beef up security with 3,000 personnel

To enhance security throughout the 2018 Eid el-Fitr celebration, the FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Patrick Ukpan has disclosed the deployment of 3,000 personnel to strategic places in the nation’s capital city.
Akpan, while addressing the press on the eve of the Sallah celebration, said the Corps has increased its patrols and surveillance, in order to provide reinforced protection across the Capital especially places like worship centres, parks, recreation centres and borders of the Territory amongst several other places.
He added that the NSCDC Armed Squad, Disaster and emergency units are also on standby to provide extra protection as well as respond aptly to emergencies as soon as the need arises.
“Officers of NSCDC are on high alert in collaboration with every other security agencies, running and doing everything necessary to ensure safe and peaceful celebrations this period and thereafter.
“I want the residents to be confident when they go about their businesses and when they sleep at night throughout this season,” the NSCDC-FCT Commandant assured.
He however stressed as much as the security agencies are putting in their best to protect lives and properties, it is also very necessary for every individual to be vigilant.
According to him, cooperation of the people is very vital, obeying every rule and order and also reporting every unusual and suspected act or individual to the nearest security post.
