Fashola inaugurates 45 ARCON board members

The Minister of Power Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has inaugurated 45 members into the board of the Architects Registration Council (ARCON).
Fashola, who inaugurated the team yesterday in Abuja, tasked members of the reconstituted council to help fulfill President Muhammadu Buhari’s mandate to the people.
According to him, Buhari is in need of men and women of good fate that could build a nation of the citizens’ dream, noting that as men of honour, the council is expected to determine the standard of education and experience necessary to be a practising architect in the country.
He said: “I want you to consider your appointment as a call to national service especially as a participation or contribution of your quota towards helping President Buhari build Nigeria.”
Consequently, The Minister revealed that the revised National Building Code has been approved, saying that the code would help the country address its housing deficit, reduce cases of building collapse and help achieve the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to reduce climate change.
Fashola maintained that the code was eventually passed after much consultation with the state Commissioners for housing and other relevant stakeholders.
The members of the council were drawn from the 36 states of the federation, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and from the Institute of Architects, among others institution.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after the inauguration, the son of the late Attorney- General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, Muyiwa, who is a nominee from Osun state, commended the federal government for their appointment, and pledged that they would address issues responsible for building collapse in the country.
Meanwhile, the Principal Officers of the newly reconstituted Architect Registration Council (ARCON) has Arc. Dapo Ajayi as President, Vice President Arc. Shamsusa Ahead, Treasurer Arc. Celestine Sunday Eze.
