Mobile Court of Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) has intensified prosecution of hawkers apprehended from various streets in the nation’s capital city.
Our correspondent reports that the exercise was in continuation to rid Abuja city of illegal trading along the street and other prohibited areas in the city centre, by diligent prosecution offenders.
At a recent sitting of the Mobile Court, in Dei-Dei, presiding Magistrate, Akani Olande convicted no fewer than fifty hawkers, in accordance with the AEPB Act.
According to a Legal Adviser of AEPB, Eze Enya following reinvigorated effort, ten people so far have been convicted while the sitting continues, as the presiding magistrate adjourned proceedings.
One of the offenders, Usman Abiyammu stated that this is a wakeup call for him and others who are trading on illegal places in FCT to stop it.
It was gathered that the ongoing prosecution and conviction of arrested street hawkers and other traders carrying their activities along Zuba express way by AEPB Mobile Court AEPB, which is a three-day exercise, with an assurance to be replicated in all the strategic places in the city centre.
