The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) scheduled to resume tomorrow after World Cup hiatus has been postponed.
The announcement was made yesterday via a press statement released by the club owners association.
According to the release signed by the Executive Secretary of the association, Alloy Chukwuemeka, it stated that the postponement was as result of unresolved issues amongst the stakeholders within the football circle, adding that a new resumption date will be announced by the League Management Company, LMC.
The statement reads: “I am directed to bring to the notice of all members and clubs that the resumption date of the 2017/2018 season earlier scheduled for Wednesday 18th July 2018 has been put on hold.
“Consequently the league resumption date has been postponed indefinitely until further notice.
“This postponement is as a result of some unresolved issues amongst the stakeholders within the football circle.
‘Meanwhile a new date will be communicated by the LMC.
Lobi Starts currently tops the league table with 43 points followed by Akwa United on 41 points after 24 matches. The league went on break after week 24 matches to pave way for Russia 2018 World Cup.
