NAOWA advocates capacity building for teachers

The National President of Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai, has called for consistent training and retraining of Nigeria teachers, to enable them contribute more to the upbringing children.
Making this point, during a graduation/prize giving day ceremony of NAOWA Nursery and Primary School, Kurudu-Abuja, at the weekend, Buratai noted that sustainable capacity building for teachers especially at the basic level, would ensure effective and efficient learning system in the country.
Buratai opined that NAOWA schools are good avenues for moral and academic upbringing of children, at a minimum costs to the parents.
Buratai, who is the wife to the chief of army staff, Lieutenant general Tukur Yusuf Buratai, explained that NAOWA schools project was established to give quality education to all Nigerian children, which according to her, is their right.
The NAOWA’s national president, represented at the occasion, by Mrs. Aruk Osoni, disclosed that
that Association would soon open secondary schools, to accommodate its graduating pupils from the primary schools.
She added that, plans are on to
establish tertiary institutions in future, to further improve access to higher education in the country.
“I must say that NAOWA is a good school for moral and academic upbringing of children.
Her words: “We are gradually moving from nursery and primary schools, and very soon to secondary schools and even tertiary institutions, like the university in future.”
Also speaking, the Head teacher of the school, Dr (Mrs.) Oshakuade Abimbola, revealed that 36 pupils graduated from the school for the 2017/2018 academic session.
According to her, the school has always maintained good working relationships with its host communities, adding that the school is open for admission to all children, without any discrimination.
Earlier, in a welcome address, the chairman, Parents Staff Association (PSA) of the school, Mr. Ben Adoga, advised parents to always get actively involved in the activities of NAOWA.
Adoga also urged parents, whose children are graduating from the school, to continue to support the school and to also recommend the qualities of the school to other parents, so that their children could benefit from it.
