Argungu, Yauri, Zuru emirates protest against alleged marginalization

The Argungu, Yauri and Zuru Emirates Association has condemned what it called injustice and unfairness in the distribution of political offices, educational institutions and developmental projects in Kebbi State.
The association at a protest rally held in Argungu alleged that the Gwandu Emirate has not been fair to them in the manner by which appointments, political offices and developmental projects are being distributed in the state.
The emirates association during a rally tagged It’s our turn (Lokacinmune) to protest against what they called the dominance of Gwandu Emirate in the running of the affairs of Kebbi State insisted that the next governor of the state must come from either Argungu, Zuru or Yauri.
During the rally that was attended by people from Zuru,Yauri and Argungu communities at the Filin Sukuwa in Argungu, the agitators took turns to express their displeasure over all the federal and state institutions that was sited in Gwandu.
“We have four emirates in Kebbi State namely Zuru,Yauri,Argungu and Gwandu, but all the developmental projects are sited in Gwandu Emirate that is why we are agitating for equity, fairness and justice,” they said.
To justified their claims the agitators cited the issues of the Federal University, State University, National Open University, Federal Polytechnic, State Polytechnic, Federal Medical Centre, the Governorship, Ministerial appointments, Ambassadorial, Police Training School, School of Nursing ,School of Health, the two Command schools and the NYSC orientation camp that were sited only in Gwandu Emirate in the state.
While speaking to journalists at the rally, the Chairman of the Zuru, Argungu, Yauri Emirates Association, Sani Haliru Maiwa said “The import of our agitation is that we are seeking for equity, justice and fairness because we have been left behind. The injustice done to the emirates of Argungu, Zuru and Yauri is too much. All the federal and state appointments were only centralized in Gwandu Emirate”. He added that without Zuru, Argungu and Yauri there wouldn’t be Kebbi State because only Gwandu cannot make the state.
