Students demand end to farmers/herders crisis

Date:

The President of National Association of Yoruba Students (NAYS), Comrade Ayo Gbologe has called for an immediate end to the reoccurring farmers/ herders clashes in the country.
Mr. Gbologe, who stated this in a press statement in Abuja, opined that the continuous killings and maiming of innocent souls by yet unidentified killer herdsmen and farmers is dangerous to the progress of the Nigerian nation.
According to him, “If we have to live together as a nation we must desist from these senseless killings which is inimical to the growth of our nation.”
He condemned the recent killings in Plateau State and other parts of the country by terrorists and advised the Federal government to ensure that more security measures are put in place to forestall future occurrence.
He also frowned at the hurried removal of Major General Atolagbe as the Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State by the military authorities.
He said, “Major General Atolagbe performed creditably while he was the Commander of Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State and he showed exemplary acts as unbiased umpire.
“We are of the opinion that the Military Authorities should shop for a good replacement that could wear the shoes of Major General Atolagbe without fear or favour.”
Comrade Gbologe appealed to the government to treat those who engages in hate speeches across the country as common criminals.
