A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, and two terms Publicity Secretary of PDP, Alhaji Bashir Bukar Rimin Zayam, has announced his defection from the party.
Bashir, who was among the founding members of the PDP, stated that he took the decision to quit the party in Bauchi, while addressing reporters and thousands of his supporters.
He said he painfully took the decision after discussion with all relevant stake holders and supporters.
He said he quit the party to save his political career which could be jeopardized by remaining with the PDP, adding that the party was being insensitive to the plight of the people.
When asked if he will join any political party, Bashir said they are still discussing on the party they will join and after they reach an agreement, they will announce their new political party.
He said as a community leader and an experienced politician, he will continue to work for the development of his community, State and the country at large.
Bashir advised his supporters to be peaceful, law abiding and respect constituted authority.
