Yobe state government had yesterday taken the delivery of a total of 7,800 already delivered, out of a total of 12,000 bags of fertilizers, make up of NPK and Urea, donated to the state by the Presidential committee on North-east Initiative for distribution to the returnee internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups in Gujba local government area of the state.
Speaking during the flagging-off of the distribution of the fertilizer to the beneficiaries which took place in Buni-Yadi, headquarters of Gujba local government area, the state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam, represented by his deputy, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, commended the effort of the PCNI pointing out that the donation would complement the state government effort in the rehabilitation and resettlement programme and would assist the returnees to embark on agricultural practices for the restoration of their means of livelihood.
He promised that the state committee charged with the responsibility of distributing the commodity to the beneficiaries would demonstrate high degree of honesty, fairness, transparency and accountability in the distribution process, and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the fertilizer and should not sale it them out.
Earlier during the day, before the flagging-off ceremony of the fertilizer at Buni-Yadi, the vice chairman of the PCNI, Alhaji Musa Tijjani Tumsa, officially handed over the delivered fertilizers to the state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaida, represented by his deputy, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, at the state secretariat in Damaturu, the state capital.
