SAHCOL elevates spokesman, Basil as Managing Director

Nigerian leading indigenous ground handling firm, Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) has elevated its former spokesman and image maker, Mr. Basil Agboarumi to the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment, which was announced in Lagos on Monday threw the aviation industry into jubilant mood as stakeholders flood the social media to discuss the development many described as the company putting round peg in round hole.
Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications, SAHCOL, Vanessa Uansohia stated that Agboarumi’s appointment as substantive MD/CEO was announced in a letter conveyed to him having served in an acting capacity for the past six months.
The foremost ground handling firm also announced the appointment of three Executive Directors, Mrs. Boma Ukwunna – in charge of Cargo Services & Operations, Mr.Olaniyi Adigun, Sales & Marketing; and Mr. Babatunde Afolabi, Information Technology & Business Development.
Agboarumi joined SAHCOL, then a subsidiary of the Nigeria Airways Limited(NAL) as the pioneer staff/Head of the Public Affairs Unit.
After the privatisation and subsequent takeover of SAHCOL by the SIFAX Group in 2009, he was appointed Head of Corporate Communications, with a mandate to spearhead the re-branding of the new grand handler .
He was later elevated to the position of General Manager in 2013 in charge of the Corporate Communications & Information Technology (IT) Departments of SAHCOL, providing leadership for the day to day operations of the units until his recent appointment.
He is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR), an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and an Aluminous of the Pan-Atlantic University.
The new helmsman hlods a National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, a Masters in Communications Studies (MSc) from the Lagos State University and a Certificate in Creative Design & Digital Communication from the School of Media & Communications of the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.
