DFID, Jigawa Govt sign MoU on health, education

The Department for International Development (DFID) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Jigawa state Government on health, environmental, sanitation and education sectors.
Speaking shortly before signing the agreement, the Country Head of DFID in Nigeria, Dabbie Palmar said, they are in Government House Dutse to discuss with governor on how to support Jigawa government to reduce the high rate of maternal mortality and improve the educational sector.
According to the DFID head, the Jigawa state suffer a lot from‎ the areas of health and education which forced the state to remain among the poorest state in the country.
She maintained that, the high rate of maternal mortality, malaria diseases and open-defecation need to address for economic growth and development.
Also speaking, the state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru said, his administration is committed toward addressing the issues.
He explained that, the state government under his leadership established over sixty health centres particularly at hard-to-reach areas across the state.
According to him, over five hundred health workers are recruited with hundreds of vehicles was distributed through save motherhood under the programme of Maternal Health Child New born.
The governor assured his support to the programme adding that, his administration welcomes any issues that would enhance the betterment of the state.
