The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) has for the sake of acquiring safe and better society, urged stakeholders in education to emphasize on attending effective formal education with a view to prepare the teeming youths for robust politicking in their later lives.
In a press conference on Thursday at the end of the ANCOPSS five day National Executive Meeting in Gusau, the national President, Principal Izuagie A. Anselem said, there is advent of “Dual Career” studentship in Nigeria’s education system which needs collective efforts in order to address the problems.
The ANCOPSS further lamented that, Nigeria has failed to comply with the International Specification on youths status as enunciated in the United Nations Charter (1945), therefore, government should put in place policies and programmes that would ensure that, education brings about individual and societal development.
“All efforts should be made to discourage “Dual Career” studentship in our education system for quality education and check on the wave of underperformance and social vices among youths,” the communiqué has contained.
The meeting further recommended that, the Nigerian government should endeavor to key into global standard on youths status should her youths would connect and properly fit into world development plans. Adding that, “Political leadership at all levels in Nigeria should focus more on the wellbeing of the people for a better society.
