Plateau APC queries party chieftain for declaring support for Atiku

The Plateau state Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has queried former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Switzerland and one of the founding members of the party, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, for declaring support for former vice president Atiku Abubakar.
The party said Kwande’s action during Atiku’s rally can be described as anti-party.
Ambassador Kwande, who doubles as member of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party attended ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s rally in Jos, on Tuesday last week where he told PDP supporters that Atiku is the only person that deserves to govern this country comes 2019.
Atiku was in Jos to lobby national delegates from Plateau state ahead of PDP’s presidential primary.
The APC, in a letter of query dated 21st September, 2018, signed by its state Chairman, Letep Dabang and made available to Journalists alleged that Kwande also vowed to bring governor Lalong to PDP.
APC argues that Kwande’s action, as BoT of APC, has constitutes anti-party activities that has caused the party serious embarrassment in the country.
“Now take notice that you (Kwande) are to comprehensively respond within 24 hours why disciplinary action should not be taken against you.”
In his reaction to the query, Yahaya Kwande explained that he went to the said rally, because of his 30 years long political association with Atiku.
Kwande clarified that he also attended the rally because Atiku urged him to escort him to where he was going, which happened to be PDP’s Plateau Secretariat.
He said, “I was of course surprised when I saw my name marked and pasted on a chair next to PDP Chairman’s chair at the venue of the event. And they did that to blackmail me and my party; they knew I would never abandon Atiku anywhere.”
