Catholic Priest, Anyembugu to organize medical treatment, testing for 500 people in December

The Catholic Priest of St. Sylvester, New Nyanya in Nassarawa state, Very. Rev. Fr. Lawrence S. Anyembugu has revealed that he will organize medical treatment and testing for 500 Nigerians in December.
He listed tuberculosis, hepatitis, hypertension, eye challenges and many others to include ailments to be treated during the medical treatment and testing Programme.
Anyembugu made this known yesterday while speaking to Peoples Daily in his parish office, in St. Sylvester, New Nyanya.
He said the Programme is part of events for his priestly 10th year anniversary which was marked in January.
According to him, “as thanksgiving to God for this attainment in his vineyard, I would like to help other people suffering various medical challenges in this country. Everywhere we look, there are people in need of help. I see people on daily basis who are in dire need for medical attention and I want to assist some of them out of their current medical challenges”.
Speaking further on other activities being planned for the event, the clergy added that singing competition, debate on catechism, bible and current affairs will be the highlights of the occasion.
In addition, Anyembugu said he is sponsoring about 20 couples to be wedded in the church.
“At this particular time, I also want to unite many families with Christ by wedding them in the church. There are a lot of people who did not wed in the church and as a priest, I want to bring them back to the right path. Just last year, I sponsored the wedding of 53 people in my parish and 84 others in Akwanga; this move helped so many families to be in union with the church.”
He further called on Nigerians to unite and have respect for each other’s religion. “ God did not make mistake by creating us with separate religions. We should unite beyond this and emulate other people who do not see religion as a problem. We should learn to live as one and always try to help those in need.”
