Kebbi APC: Crisis tears Chiroman Kabi’s camp ahead of Congresses

Date:

From Ahmed Idris, Birnin Kebbi

Major crisis engulfed Chiroman Kabi’s camp ahead of this week’s APC congresses to elect candidates to various offices in Kebbi State.
Reliable sources from Argungu told our correspondent that one of the leading figures in the camp and current member of the National Assembly with some other major stakeholders from Argungu, have deserted the Chiroma gubernatorial campaign team and agreed to return to the mainstream APC structure in the State.
Among those that left the camp include a former Adviser to Kebbi Governor who hails from Arewa local Government Area and a former State Party Executive from Argungu, among others.
The deserters argue that Chiroma’s gubernatorial aspiration lacks credibility and acceptance from party members and general electorate in the State.
They cited arrogance, desperation and encouragement of thuggery as reasons for disassociating themselves from the group.
They also alleged that despite caution and pleas to withdraw his petition against the state governor over eligibility to re-contest, he remained adamant and went ahead with the petition which they described as manifestation of ill-will and lacking in substance.
