The 32nd edition of the All Financial Institutions Football Competition (AFIFC) sponsored by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) kicked-off today with 24 teams jostling for star prize of two million Naira.
A statement made available to newsmen in Abuja signed by Isaac Okorafor, Director Corporate Communications CBN said , preliminary matches of the competition will be played in four zones in Abakaliki, Ado-Ekiti, Asaba and Lafia.
The quarter final matches billed to hold at the same venues on Saturday, October 13, 2018, while the semi-finals have also scheduled for Ilorin on October 16, 2018.
The finals of the competition will be decided at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State, on October 20, 2018.
The competition serves as a platform for the promotion of unity, harmony and peaceful co-existence among key players in Nigeria’s financial system.
Other prizes to be awarded at the competition are N1, 500,000 for the runners up; N1, 000,000 for the bronze medal winners; and N500,000 for the forth-placed team. v
The CBN and the NFF have also concluded plans to invite a crop of ex-internationals to grace the finals to serve as a major boost for participating teams.
We therefore urge all the teams that are registered to participate actively and exhibit an unrelenting spirit of sportsmanship.
Meanwhile, the CBN remains committed to making positive contributions to the promotion and development of the game of football by sponsoring the competition annually, which is in line with the Bank’s corporate social responsibility.
