The Kaduna State Local Government Compulsory Retirees Forum has vowed to drag Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir Elrufai to court for nonpayment of their severance allowances.
The group stated this in a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting of the Forum held in Kaduna yesterday.
The communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Comrade Abubakar J. Sambo, the Secretary, Comrade Umar Jaafar respectively, expressed dismay over nonpayment of the retirees benefits after one year of their ‘illegal dismissal.’
It could be recalled that the State Government sacked 4,042 local government workers spread across the 23 local government areas of the state on the basis of restructuring and strengthening of the local government system to carry out developmental projects and programmes.
“Sequel to the meeting held on this day, 7th October 2018, of the above named forum, it has been resolved therefore that the situation and conditions of the staff that were retired , retrenched from service be made known to the public and all the relevant concerned bodies.
“For almost a year now, since November 2017 to date, a dime has not been given or sent to any staff in respect to the retirement, retrenchment .
“We resolve here to appeal to the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the senators representing the three zones of the state, all members of House of Assembly, State House of Assembly and all the relevant bodies to come to our aid.
“However, we also resolved to go to the court for an absolute justice, “ the communiqué said.
