AWCON 2018: Super Falcons squad list out Nov. 4

Super Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby has disclosed that he will name his final squad of 21 players for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nation, AWCON, on November 4.
The Swedish coach who stated this in Lagos on Monday, expressed confident that his ladies will win 2018 AWCON Group B while admitting that the Banyana Banyana of South Africa will be the tough nut in Falcons group.
Defending Champions, Super Falcons have are paired with perennial rivals, South Africa in Group B of the Ghana 2018 edition of the tournament.
Ghana were pooled into Group A alongside Cameroon, Mali and Algeria, while defending champions Nigeria – headlining Group B – will meet South Africa, Kenya and Zambia.
The hosts will kick off the tournament against North African representatives Algeria on November 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium, while Nigeria and South Africa will clash in a heavyweight showdown at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Algeria are making their fifth appearance at the African championship after a 6-3 aggregate win over Ethiopia in the qualifiers.
Ghana will later host Mali on 20 November, 2018 at the same venue and then face Cameroon three days later.
The Black Queens will be seeking to win the continental showpiece for the first time after coming close on three occasions in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
The final will take place in Accra on December 1, with both finalists and the winner of the third-placed playoff all qualifying for the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
Super Falcons have won 8 out of the past 10 editions of the tournament but have failed to replicate their continental dominance in the global women football.
