Former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, has expressed optimism over the team’s ability to defeat the Bayana Bayana in South Africa when the two heavyweights in Africa football clash in the return leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on November 17.
Chukwu who captained the team in 1980’ when it was called the Green Eagles said that Nigeria’s victories over Libya in the first and second legs of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), was a testimony of their readiness.
“The Super Eagles must let South Africa know that they are now more prepared than before. They must grab their three points from there without any doubt because they are good now,” Chukwu was quoted.
The former coach urged the Super Eagles to go all out for the three points which he said was imperative for their qualification.
recall that Super Eagles fail to a 0-2 loss to the Bayana Bayana boys in Uyo on June 10 last year in the opening match first leg of the qualifiers.
however, nigeria currently tops the Group E of the AFCON qualifier following three consecutive wins against Seychelles and Libya. the Super EAgles has 9 points one more than their Novmber opponents, who have 8 points. Lybia has 4 points while Seychelles brings the reaer with just a single point.
South Africa versus Nigeria match will hold at FNB Stadium on 17 of Novmber by 5pm.
